Homework: The Rime of the Ancient Mariner
And the coming wind did roar more loud,And the sails did sigh like a sedge; And the rain poured down from one black cloud; The moon was at its edge.
The thick black cloud was cleft, and still The Moon was at its side:Like waters shot from some high crag,The lightning fell with never a jag, A river steep and wide.
The loud wind never reached the ship, Yet now the ship moved on! Beneath the lighting and the Moon The dead men gave a groan.

Poetry by heart badge
“Is it he”? quoth one, “Is this the man? By him who died on cross, With his cruel bow he laid full bow, The harmless Albatross
“The spirit who bideth by himself in the land of mist and snow, He loved the bird that loved the man Who shot him with his bow”
The other was a softer voice, As soft as honey-dew:Quoth he, “The man hath hath penance done and penance more will do.”
The Rime of the Ancient Mariner-Part the third
People on the boat are tired and thirsty and one of them see something on the horizon which was shiny and see throw he realised it was a ship with a sail
The crew member bit his arm and sucked the blood and cried “A sail! a sail!” All of the crew members were all at a joy as they drank all as the Sun rested
As the ship comes closer to the against the setting sun they see a woman and her lips were red and her looks were free and beside her was death which was her mate
A big man alongside come and playing with the dice and said “I won! i won!” the sets out and the moon rises up so stars pop out and then the crew they looked over there shoulders and up and they were frightened and scared.
One after one the stars went over around the moon then suddenly all the fifty men died killed by the mans eye without a sound and lifeless and without a reaction and they souls escaped from their bodies and every soul passed the captain like speed of his CROSS BOW!
Metaphor:
With throats unslaked, with black lips baked
in this line of the Ancient Mariner, it means that every crew member were thirsty and tired so they were and couldn’t be bothered to do anything for lives and walking to the light.
Wide Reading Project
During the year you will be asked to read a wide range of texts. Using texts studied in class as well as texts you have selected you will also complete a log of the reading process. Overall you will read eight texts including at least six written texts and two visual texts. You will complete log entries on each text and present a report on your findings.
Attached is the outline of your required personal reading project – inside is the guidance you need to make sure your own-choice reading is going to meet the wide reading criteria.
You can always ask your teacher for advice about which texts would be best to concentrate on – and once you’ve read each text, you’ll then be asked to write a journal entry on your blog explaining how it helped develop your understanding of The Individual and Society.
This year everyone in the school will be required to have a ‘book at hand’ – and for English students, it makes a good idea to make that book one that helps you towards this reading project.
